FIELD: instrumentation engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method that can be used for determining occurrence depth of grounding connection components of power supply equipment and rail transport traction substations includes measurement of electromagnetic filed strength H1 on earth surface above groundingconnection component and H2, on earth surface at distance "a" from grounding connection component. Results of these measurements are used to derive equation for calculating occurrence depth of grounding-connection horizontal component.
EFFECT: provision for dispensing with sensor positioning in space thereby reducing time and labor consumption.
