FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: method involves doubling strips spread on field with butt end parts oriented toward one side, apex end parts applied onto one another and butt end parts extending outside; winding both strips in roll and binding with twine. In the process of doubling strips, one of apex end parts is moved to other apex end part and the latter is wrapped. Upon wrapping of other strip, it is also moved closer to said one strip. Both strips are moved by applying force to stalk end parts lengthwise thereof. Apparatus has wheeled frame, picking-up drums and two conveyors, with one of conveyors being adapted for movement in crosswise direction and belt of other conveyor being turned through 180 deg. Each conveyor is equipped with mechanism for moving strip by applying force to stalk butt ends lengthwise thereof. Moving mechanism of one conveyor is mounted laterally thereof and moving mechanism of conveyor having belt turned through 180 deg is arranged rearward of above conveyor in the course of process.
EFFECT: increased yield of the most valuable elongated fiber during treatment of flax fibers.
