FIELD: metallurgy, namely billet continuous casting.
SUBSTANCE: apparatus for cooling rotating roller includes housing with opening for supplying cooling agent to roller, mounted in fixed chocks in radial bearings; sealing ring; pivot; and thrust bearing. In body of roller there is cylindrical turning coaxial relative to central drilled hole of roller. Pivot and thrust bearing are provided with spherical surfaces concentric relative to central drilled hole of roller for joining them with possibility of mutual rotation in range of angle equal to admissible skewing angle of radial bearings. In zone of contact along said spherical surfaces in pivot or thrust bearing pin may be mounted and respectively groove for pin may be provided in thrust bearing or in pivot. Center of spherical surfaces of pivot and thrust bearing may coincide with center of radial bearing. Said groove may be circular one in plane normal relative to spherical surfaces and it may have radius of circle r = R Sin α + 0.5 d, where R - radius of spherical surfaces, mm; α - admissible skewing angle of radial bearing, degrees.
EFFECT: enhanced quality of ingots, improved operational properties and fluid-tightness of apparatus, elimination of skewness of butts, scratches, abrasive wear and damage of sealing ring.
