FIELD: ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention is designed for use in manufacture of iron ore agglomerate for blast furnace conversion. Process comprises dosing components of charge containing solid fuel, limestone and iron-ore concentrates, of which at least one includes magnesia waste rock, mixing components, pelleting, charging into agglomachine, sintering, and treatment of cake. A part of total amount of magnesium oxide is incorporated into charge with magnetite concentrate, having magnesia waste rock and fineness below 0.1 mm, and the rest of magnesium oxide is introduced with carbonate magnesia material wherein ratio MgO(carb)/Fe(total) is her than 0.2 and limiting fineness 3-13 mm. Amount of magnesium oxide introduced into charge with carbonate MgO within the range of the height of sintered layer is set in accordance with equation: MgO(carb) = k(H-250) x MgO(total), where MgO(total) denotes total content of magnesium oxide in charge, kg/100 kg agglomerate; H height of sintered layer, mm; k empirical coefficient equal to 0.001-0.005. Ratio of MgO(carb)/Fe(total) in the charge is maintained equal to 0.03-0.05.
EFFECT: increased productivity of agglomachine and improved strength characteristics of agglomerate.
