FIELD: transport engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to tensioning devices with displaceable springs using wedges and provided with damper to operate in combination with belts of vehicle auxiliary mechanism drives. Invention has self-contained mechanical tensioning device for belt which provides damping in response to applied load owing to action of friction forces appearing at sliding of relatively counteracting wedges. First wedge or taper piston is enclosed in housing. Taper piston interacts with second piston or with taper wedge. Surface of taper wedge slides along inner surface of housing. Taper wedge can expand in direction square to inner surface of housing. Spring brings taper wedge in engagement with taper piston. At impulse load received by pulley, piston will move into taper wedge. Taper wedge will expand relative to inner surface of housing. Expansion of taper wedge in housing will increase friction between taper wedge and housing, thus braking taper wedge and pulley. The greater the impulse, the greater expansion of taper wedge. This increases resulting friction force counteracting displacement of taper wedge relative to housing. With load reduced to minimum, friction force decreases to lower level, thus providing easy extraction of piston.
EFFECT: improved operating characteristics of device.
