MACHINE FOR CONTINUOUS HORIZONTAL CASTING OF METAL Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: machine includes insulated reservoir or vessel with melt metal such as aluminum; mold that may be disconnected from reservoir or vessel and has insulating plate with openings communicated with mold. The last has, preferably round cavity with zone of primary cooling for supplying oil and (or) gas restricted by wall of permeable material and with zone for secondary cooling of melt metal formed at least by means of one gap along circumference of cavity or adapter for direct supply of cooling agent. Insulating plate has protrusion passing along wall of cavity. By changing length of said protrusion it is possible to increase or reduce surface area of wall and, respectively cooling effect in zone of primary cooling. Such machine may be adapted for casting alloys of different types.

EFFECT: possibility for making in machine for continuous horizontal casting of metal cast products whose quality is similar to that of cast product made in machine for vertical continuous casting of metal.
