FIELD: shipbuilding; submarine ships running under ice and breaking ice cover by resonance method as surfacing in compact ice.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes excitation of flexural gravitational waves when ship is running under ice at resonance speed. During motion of ship, electromagnetic force directed towards motion of ship is created on her upper part in fore extremity where wave trough is most likely to be formed.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of ice breaking.
