DEVICE FOR CATCHING LEADING PIPE IN ROTOR OF DRILLING PIPE Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: mining industry.

SUBSTANCE: device has body with slit connections to inserts, made with supporting surfaces for wedges with dies, connected to drive via supports with holders and guiding boards, localizer and clamp for leading pipe with conical supporting surface o body and rotary inserts, enveloping facets of leading pipe. Upper portion of body of holder of leading pipe is positioned near upper end of device body and is made of cross-like shape with position of cross-shaped shelves along axes of inserts joint coaxially to rotary inserts, and inserts are made with grooves of matching shape. Cross-shaped shelves in transverse section have shape of two-step wedge with flat vertex, directed downwards, while angle α of wedge near the base is derived from formula α = 2(β±30'), where β - maximal angle of deflection of leading pipe from axis of through aperture of device, and wedge angle near vertex is equal to 30°-40°, while cross-shaped shelves are positioned at the level of slit connections of inserts with device body and with guaranteed space between their lower end and bottom of grooves for them in the inserts.
