FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines without crank case.

SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method of operation of internal combustion engine using process of conversion of working medium-mixture with at least one liquid component, including preparation of mixture and its ignition at end of compression stroke, liquid component is introduced at moment when piston passes 1/4-1/3 of working stroke with synchronously decreasing fuel delivery into fuel mixture. Liquid component (water) is in mixture with air.

EFFECT: increased economy of engine without reducing power output.
