FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed mechanism can be used in internal combustion engines and compressors for converting reciprocation into rotation and vice versa. Mechanism contains hinge-connected support and guide cranks with radii of rotation equal to one fourth of piston stroke. At least two teeth are rigidly secured on guide crank which can be made cylindrical, ellipsoidal or arc-shaped. Parameters of teeth on one guide crank can differ in value and profile. For two-toothed gear, diameter of cylindrical teeth is found by formulas dz < S sin 45° or dz < S cos 45° where S is piston stroke. Rod neck, hinge-connected minimum with one piston rod, arranged on axis of one of teeth out of plane of inner gear.
EFFECT: improved reliability and increased strength.
