FIELD: hydrometry.
SUBSTANCE: method can be used for hydrological observations, particularly for calculating consumption of river's water at water gauge stations. Ruler provided with divisions is made for floating and is fixed by means of flexible link at the side of stroboscope in opposition to stream flow. During process of measurement the ruler is let go by means of stroboscope along current of stream flow.
EFFECT: improved operational abilities of gating of stream flow.
