FIELD: special-purpose electrical metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed device includes furnace chamber, consumable electrode made from material to be remolten inside furnace chamber and crucible inside furnace chamber. Crucible has wall which forms reservoir for accumulation of molten material of consumable electrode; at least part of wall is profiled for increase of area and for mechanical stabilization of bead as bead gets molten from below and increases at the top. Consumable electrode is loaded into furnace chamber above cooled crucible provided with profiled wall; molten material is accumulated and cooled for obtaining ingot with bead of solidified material formed near profiled wall of crucible in front of lower boundary of solidifying material.
EFFECT: avoidance of contamination of melts with splashes and oxide inclusions due to stabilization of ingot bead.
