FIELD: special electrometallurgy. SUBSTANCE: the invention presents a method of production of ingots and is pertinent to special electrometallurgy, in particular to the vacuum arc remelting of the highly reactive metals and alloys and may be used for processing of a titanium chips. The method provides that melting of a consumable electrode is executed through an intermediate king-pot made of the same material, that a consumable electrode is made, and placed in the space of the melt chamber of the furnace. Smelting of the consumable electrode is conducted with a reverse polarity and acting on the electric arc by a revolving magnetic field. The invention allows to involve up to 100 % of the titanium chips in the process of remelting, and also to make purification of the molten metal from refractory particles. EFFECT: the invention allows to involve up to 100 % of the titanium chips in the process of remelting and to purify the molten metal from refractory particles. 1 ex, 1 dwg
