FIELD: electrical engineering; instrumentation engineering.
SUBSTANCE: linear magnet such as that used for compass manufacture has separate pre-magnetized components. These components in the quantity of 2n + 1, where n ≥ 1, are made of different magnetic materials and interconnected in series in direction of magnetization. Coercive force of components rises toward poles and saturation induction is maximal at central odd component. Compass has case with transparent cover and sensing dipole in the form of linear magnet, as well as plate installed on conical supporting stud. Side surface of case is corrugated and made of flexible material. Sensing dipole has three series-connected magnetic components, two extreme ones being characterized in relatively high coercive force and central one, in relatively high saturation induction. Supporting stud is spring-loaded and installed for displacement along its axis. Corrugated case is placed in shielding box with hinged cover and is free to turn through 360 deg. relative to mentioned box.
EFFECT: enhanced reliability and facilitated servicing by raising dipole torque.
