FIELD: technologies for detecting corrosion.

SUBSTANCE: close to surface of electrically conducting object transmitting coil is placed for forming vortex currents in object and receiving system, consisting of two receiving coils. Signal in time of first and second receiving coils are recorded. Thickness of wall of object is determined on basis of characteristic of one of signals. Characteristic value F is calculated on basis of both signals. Value of measured thickness of object wall is corrected for distance between probe and object with use of predetermined relation between thickness of wall and characteristic value F for different values of distance between probe and object.

EFFECT: higher efficiency.
