FIELD: electrical engineering; support insulators for high-voltage substations and power transmission lines.
SUBSTANCE: proposed support insulator has bearing body, metal flanges and tracking-resistant shielding shell. Bearing body of support insulator is, essentially, insulating tube made of polymeric compound reinforced by high-strength threads. Such mechanical design makes it possible to essentially reduce mass and cost of proposed insulator compared with stick insulators. In order to prevent moisture condensation within bearing body (tube) during ambient temperature fluctuations, damp air is displaced from mentioned space by filling it with cold-curing silicone compound. Specially produced microscopic-size fragments of insulating material are used for filling inner space of insulator body.
EFFECT: enhanced reliability.
