SURGICAL METHOD FOR TREATING CLOSED ANGLE GLAUCOMA CASES Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method involves cutting out 5x5 mm large superficial scleral graft. Middle layers of sclera are removed along unclosed square perimeter. Each side of the square is 3.5-4.5 mm long. The anterior chamber is opened. Two parallel strips are cut out from the deep layers in perpendicular to limb and turned with its base towards the limb. Area ratio of each of the strips to remote middle layers area of sclera belongs to an interval of 0.25-0.33. The strips are folded and arranged between the deep layers 1 mm deep in the anterior chamber. The superficial scleral graft is returned to its initial place and fixed with two interrupted sutures.

EFFECT: avoided complications like hemorrhages into the anterior chamber, iris edge abruption, ciliary body perforation and descemet membrane detachment.
