GENERAL-PURPOSE HAND-HELD THINNER (VERSIONS) Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: agricultural equipment, in particular, hand-held tools for preplanting mellowing of soil top layer, thinning and undercutting of weedage, thinning of crops and interrow soil cultivation in horticulture.

SUBSTANCE: hand-held thinner has working tool comprising plate with sharpened edges. Working tool is formed as rectangle with a right angle at side adjoining shank holder attachment zone and an acute angle defined by equal length sides of plate. Center of gravity of plate is arranged in its plane to allow rotation in counterclockwise direction. According to another version, thinner plate is made in the form of pentagon with an obtuse angle at its apex and acute angles at plate base. In both versions, angle of revolution of plate under the action of center of gravity is 20-30 deg allowing acute wedge with an angle of 70 deg to be used for breaking up and partly turning of soil. Saw-shaped layer of high hardness metal is applied onto wedge blade. During operation of thinner, it is sharpened against soil layer.
