DEVICE FOR TRAINING CYCLISTS Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: cyclist training devices.

SUBSTANCE: proposed device ensures smooth contactless control of load, continuous check of physical state of sportsman by organism response and control of load relative to this response, orientation to optimal systoles in software. Proposed training device has frame for holding the cyclist which includes unit for attachment of front wheel fork and unit of fixed support of bicycle rear wheel. Rear wheel is connected by friction clutch with roller mounted on axle installed on frame. Mounted on one side of axle is also fan impeller and load changed in stepwise manner is mounted on its other side; said load is formed by means of permanent magnet force on metal disk revolving together with wheel. Output signal of cyclist motion sensor is fixed to roller rotation. Dynamic load is created by means of interaction of eddy currents arising in revolving metal disk by means of control winding wound on core of magnetic circuit which embraces part of disk surface; it is connected to system unit of personal computer through first amplifier and first analog-to-digital converter. Field winding of electric motor is connected to system unit through second amplifier and second analog-to-digital converter. Axle of electric motor is mechanically connected with bicycle rear wheel. Systole sensor and cyclist motion sensor are connected to system unit of personal computer through first and second analog-to-digital converters, respectively. All units and sensors are connected to power supply source. Operation of device is performed at control of applied programs and video films.
