FIELD: cellular communication systems.
SUBSTANCE: proposed system that operates within cells and incorporates provision for rotation sampling of cells has hierarchy of cells in which size of cells of one hierarchy layer is other than that of cells of other hierarchy layer; these cells perform following functions: (a) identify user equipment layer separate cells assigned to in list of adjacent cells; (b) omit measurement of cells included in list which are greater than current servicing cell when measuring adjacent cells for rotation sampling unless condition that Sampling (S) parameter of cell is lower than Search threshold parameter but higher than zero is satisfied; (c) measure adjacent cells irrespective of their hierarchical layer when S is lower than or equal to zero. If user equipment has made rotation sampling of cell among N different cells residing at same hierarchical layer within time interval Tmax, it initiates rotation sampling procedure for adjacent cells of greater size. This procedure makes it possible for user equipment to move through cell at relatively high speed.
EFFECT: improved rotation sampling procedure for cells.
