FIELD: fire-fighting, particularly to combat forest fires.

SUBSTANCE: method involves detecting fire; spraying water with the use of airplane from fire rear side so that ambient pressure becomes lower than pressure at fire front, wherein above pressure difference results in delivering combustion products to fire site so that zone with decreased oxygen content is created in fire site to provide reduction of fire intensity and temperature in above zone; cooling above low-pressure area to temperature equal to self-ignition temperature of combustible materials by increasing sprayed water dispersion; moving low-pressure area and cooled area to fire front and combating the forest fire.

EFFECT: possibility to extinguish fires covering large territories along with reduced consumption of fire-extinguishing compositions.
