FIELD: fire safety.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of localising centres and extinguishing of smoldering fires in peat deposits. Method of localising centres and extinguishing of smoldering fires in peat deposits consists in creation of fire-resisting belts, closed around centres of smouldering in peat deposit, and, finally, suppression of said centres. Fire-resisting belts are created by extinguishing barrels equipped with pipeline for supply of gas pressure in them and nozzles arranged regularly along whole height of extinguishing barrel. Barrels are previously filled with fire-extinguishing substance in powdered compositions containing mineral salts of alkali metals and iron, mixtures of these salts, carbonates. Pipeline in lower part has whirlwinding nozzle to create inside extinguishing barrel at supply to it via pipeline gas of liquefied mixture of fire-extinguishing powder and gas. Vertical wells are drilled throughout height of layer of peat in deposit. In well extinguishing barrel is brought and is supplied to it under pressure of gas not supporting searing burning of peat. Vertical wells are drilled at certain distance from each other and with introduction of extinguishing barrels into them. Upon approach of smouldering front at peat deposit to fire-resisting zone, smoldering fire in peat deposit under Earth's surface is stopped.
EFFECT: localisation of sources and extinguishing of smoldering fires in peat deposits.
