TECHNOLOGICAL SAMPLE FOR DETERMINING EROSION RESISTANCE OF CASTING MOLD Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC B22C9/00

FIELD: foundry.

SUBSTANCE: technological sample is in the form of casting mold made of tested material. Mold includes upper and lower mold halves forming working cavity having dents in its bottom. Upper mold half has runner for supplying melt to working cavity and lower mold half has runner for feeding melt out of working cavity to chill mold. When melt flows on dents of mold bottom it partially destructs them and it is fed to chill mold together with sand particles forming technological casting. Using sample cut from technological casting, erosion resistance of mold is determined by known method.

EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of mold erosion resistance determination due to creating conditions of casting process similar to real ones.
