FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to foundry production and can be used to produce samples of flat casts from aluminum and magnesium alloys. Method involves application of a protective coating on the inner walls of the chill mold, assembly of the chill mold, pouring of metal into the chill mold, cooling of metal, disassembly of the chill mold and extraction of casting. Chill mold with the applied protective coating is preheated to temperature of (250–300) °C. Liquid metal is poured into the chill mold through a removable funnel connected to the gating system with possibility of metal supply to the lower part of the chill mold. During casting and cooling of metal, chill mold is subjected to vibration with frequency (50÷80) Hz and amplitude (0.3÷0.8) mm.
EFFECT: method enables to obtain high-quality castings with improved mechanical characteristics.
