FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, processing of metal chips, may be used for manufacture of briquettes from chips of titanium or alloys thereof.
SUBSTANCE: method involves grinding metal chips for producing two fractions of chip members of different length; mixing, washing, drying and compacting in mold. In order to briquette chips of titanium or titanium alloys, length of chip member is selected to be within the range of 10-30 mm and 50-90 mm, said chip members being mixed at weight ratio of 1:1 - 3:1, respectively. Drying is performed at temperature of 105-110 C. Chip members are compacted in mold heated to temperature of 180-300 C.
EFFECT: improved strength, stable quality and uniform density of briquettes throughout the entire section thereof.
