FIELD: processes for applying wear resistant coatings on cutting tools, possibly at working metals.
SUBSTANCE: method for applying onto cutting tool wear resistant coating on base of titanium nitride or carbonitride containing aluminum and chrome as alloying component is realized by means of two arranged mutually opposite built-up cathodes containing titanium and aluminum with use of built-up cathode arranged between above mentioned ones and containing titanium and chrome.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of cutting tool due to increased residual compression stresses, improved micro-hardness of coating.
