FIELD: processes for applying wear resistant coatings on cutting tools, possibly in metal working industry branches.
SUBSTANCE: vacuum-plasma method for applying onto cutting tool wear-resistant coating on base of titanium nitride or carbonitride containing chrome and iron as alloying component is realized by means of two arranged mutually opposite built-up cathodes containing titanium and chrome with use of built-up cathode of titanium and iron arranged between above mentioned ones.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of cutting tool due to increased adhesion strength, lowered exfoliation factor of coating.
