FIELD: nuclear engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of nuclear engineering and can be applied in the case-free control fuel assemblies of a liquid metal nuclear reactor. Fluidless fuel assembly of a liquid metal nuclear reactor contains fuel elements installed in spacer grids around a central hexagonal channel, in which the operating element of the control and protection system is placed with the possibility of entering into the active zone under the influence of the Archimedes force. Central hexagonal channel is provided with upper and lower limiters for axial movement of the working member. Working member is made with a hexagonal cross section and consists of at least two links pivotally connected to each other and provided with spacer elements with respect to the hexagonal central channel.
EFFECT: guaranteed operation of the working element to ensure its axial movement in the central hexagonal channel and to enter the active zone, excluding the probability of accidental extraction of the working member from the fuel assembly, and also the maximum use of the area of the central hexagonal channel in order to increase the amount of absorbing material in the working organ.
