FIELD: manufacture of mineral materials.
SUBSTANCE: manufacture of scaly material from mineral melt comprises feeding melt by gravity into rotating pot, forming thin layer of molten material on inside surface of pot using centrifugal force with acceleration jump at the pot outlet, cooling material with compacted (overpressure 0.5-1.2 kg/cm2) air flow within annular blow zone until hardened film is formed. The latter is then crushed into small scales under cutter impact. Scales are collected by means of negative pressure and scaly mass is centrifugally fractioned. Installation comprises: furnace to prepare melt with feeder; stream feeder assembly with outlet opening; film-forming rotary pot installed under stream feeder assembly with upward facing outlet opening having radially and outward deflected edge; annular slit-shaped blow head; mechanism to crush film into scales; scale sedimentation chamber; receiving device with depression chamber; and scaly material fractioning unit. Film-forming pot is constructed with stepped annular recesses near its edge and provided with annular comb mounted motionless and concentrically inside the pot and made in the form of hollow ring with perpendicular downward oriented hollow pins. Space of each pin is separated with vertical barrier. Film-crushing mechanism is constructed as a ring mounted concentrically with the pot at the level of deflected edge of the latter and is provided with vertical knives secured on it at equal intervals. The knives are arranged perpendicularly to the film displacement direction with blade angle 10-20° against rotation direction of the film.
EFFECT: improved quality of material due to stirring of mineral melt prior to be stretched into film.
