FIELD: electronic engineering; field-emission cathode manufacture.

SUBSTANCE: proposed field-emission cathode has substrate covered with carbon-containing film made of electrically active polymer of polyheteroarylene class, polydiphenylenphthalide type, that forms field-emission surface. Film is produced at temperature of 150 - 360 °C for 0.5 - 24 h. When thickness of film produced in the process exceeds penetration depth of surface discharge, it is reduced at local sections to thickness smaller than penetration depth of surface discharge that ensures desired emissive properties. Proposed manufacturing process includes formation of drawing electrode on external surface of polymeric film.

EFFECT: enhanced emissive stability of cathode.
