FIELD: mechanical engineering, can be used for predicting and controlling wear resistance of hard-alloy cutting tools.

SUBSTANCE: method is performed by selected source parameter - value of intensiveness of electromagnetic radiation, generated by polyoxide structures - films, formed on surface of hard-alloy cutting tools at temperature and duration of oxidizing heating thereof equal to temperature of cutting and duration of functioning of these tools up to selected blunting criterion, after heating of them in vacuum chamber up to temperatures 700-800°. Coefficient, at which phase transitions occur in oxides included in composition. Method includes performing standard wear resistance tests during process of cutting of materials at optimal or close to optimal speed of cutting, performing a test for changing of value of source parameter depending on properties of polyoxide structure, construction of standard - correlation dependence, including wear resistance - source parameter - for certain temperatures of durations of cutting and heating, current - statistical control of only the value of source parameter for current batch of hard-alloy cutting tools and predicting of wear resistance for current batch of tools on basis thereof.

EFFECT: improved precision, decreased laboriousness.
