FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal working by cutting. Principle: select the initial parametre. Reference tests are performed to measure wear resistance in the course of cutting materials with the optimal speed or the one close to optimal. Testing is performed to measure changes in the value of the initial parametre as compared to the properties of the surface polyoxide structure formed in the course of heating on the surface of the carbide cutting tool at the temperature equal to the mean temperature in the cutting area. The reference correlation dependence "initial parametre - wear resistance" is set for specific temperatures of cutting and heating. The current statistical check of the value of the initial parametre is performed for the current lot of carbide cutting tools. Forecasting of wear resistance for the current lot of the tools is performed on the basis of dependence and as initial parametre the value of versatility indicator of concentration is used as well as the force of acid-base active centers at the surface polyoxide structure - pH decrease of which raises wear resistance.
EFFECT: improved precision and reduced labour intensity.
