FIELD: rolled stock production, possibly in shops for cold and hot rolling.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of creating rolling effort due to arranging rolls between poles of electromagnets and controlling profile of strip due to changing magnetic field along roll barrel. Rolling effort is created due to placing pressure rolls between multi-pole plate including permanent magnets and inductors. Thickness and profile of strip are controlled due to magnetizing, demagnetizing or neutralizing separate sections on surface of said plates without closing magnetic flux to working roll. Rolling stand includes pressure rolls and working rolls, electromagnetic system and it is provided at least with two pairs of multi-pole plates having permanent magnets and inductors and equally spaced from surface of pressure rolls. Each plate includes sections having at least one permanent magnet and one inductor and it is provided with unit for rotating and locking it relative to surface of pressure rolls. Invention provides minimized passing paths for magnetic fluxes fed to working gaps between rolls and poles of electromagnets.
EFFECT: lowered size and mass of rolling stand, reduced power losses, quick-response system for controlling stand parameters.
