FIELD: heat treatment of alloyed steels in presence of external magnetic field.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method of thermo-magnetic treatment of articles made from high-speed tool steel in permanent magnetic field includes heating to temperature of 540-580°C, holding at heat and slow cooling to room temperature; before treatment in magnetic field, article is subjected to standard heat treatment followed by application of diamond-like coat on its surface; used as magnetic field is longitudinal magnetic field at intensity of no less than 70 kA/m; time of holding the article at heat ranges from 0.25 to 1.25 h. Preliminary standard heat treatment is performed by hardening at temperature from 1210 to 1290°C continued for 2-5 min and followed by cooling in oil and two- three-stage tempering at temperature of 540-580°C continued for 1 h and terminated by cooling in air.

EFFECT: enhanced wear-resistance of articles.
