FIELD: working materials by cutting, namely production of articulation joints.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of imparting to blank and to blade cutting tool rotation around their own axes; imparting to cutting tool rotation along circle laid in plane shifted relative to center of worked sphere surface. In order to enhance efficiency and accuracy of working, cutting tool in the form of two mutually kinematically coupled cutter heads is used. Each cutter head has the same number of cutters but no less than two cutters. One cutter head is adjusted for preliminary rough working; other cutter head is adjusted for finishing due to axial feed motion. Both cutter heads are arranged one opposite to other and they are inclined by angle (determined according to formula given in description of invention) relative to plane normal to blank ax and passing through center of sphere surface, Rotation motion paths of cutter apexes have common point laid on lengthwise axis of blank. Cutter heads are driven to rotation with the same revolution number for timing cutter movements due to alternative successive passing through said common point of cutters for rough and finish working respectively.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency, improved accuracy of working.
