SUBSTANCE: method and device can be used for building completely new small-sized surface mounting automatons. Method of orientation of articles of different shapes when transporting them is based on placing line sequence articles in area of reception for subsequent reception and transfer of them to common carrier by damped surface of sequent transfer elements set which is constructed for reciprocal movement to receive articles and to mount or fix them in corresponding positions at common carrier. Rotation followed by return to initial position of transfer elements set to initial position about common axis of rotation, or individual axes of rotation of transfer elements is carried out by introducing linear changes in length of spring-loaded elastic bands which are functionally connected with corresponding axis of rotation.
EFFECT: improved reliability of operation.
