SUBSTANCE: invention is designed for interval control of traffic. According to proposed method ac voltage is applied to rail line at one end and value, of current is measured at other end. Parameter under checking is dependence of current of receiving end on current of supply end. Rail line is considered occupied if parameter under checking drops below rail line occupation threshold. Taken as occupation threshold is line whose ordinates are 30% lower than ordinates of line of normal change of checked parameter at changes of insulation resistance.

EFFECT: improved reliability of checking of occupancy of rail line.
