FIELD: transport engineering; cross-country vehicles.
SUBSTANCE: proposed axle of cross-country vehicle has wheels made spherical according to one design version or, according to other design version, provided with sections of any functional curves made in wheel rolling surfaces to get convex surfaces at rotation around corresponding axes of symmetry for smooth change of said surfaces to different diameters in contact with support surface at tilting of their aces of symmetry. Wheel axes are arranged on horizontal tilting joints of wheels. Tilting of left-hand and right-hand wheels of axle is provided by automobile-type linkage. Torque is transmitted to wheels through system of shafts and reduction gears. Levers of wheel tilting control linkage consists of two parts with possibility of displacement of one part relative to the other and fixing relative to each other to provide different initial tilts of wheels relative to support surface at straight-ahead movement of axle. Tie-rod of control linkage is secured by each end on corresponding displaceable and lockable part of each lever of axle wheel tilting control linkage.
EFFECT: improved controllability of cross-country vehicle and enlarged cross-country capabilities.
