FIELD: engineering of precise positioning devices, providing for significant continuous movement range of object (˜10mm) with extremely high (˜0,1 nm) resolution.
SUBSTANCE: positioning device includes magnetostriction poly-crystal of material, having an effect of gigantic magnetostriction, encased between abutment plate and piston, affecting the liquid, filling the communicating vessels of different diameters. Movement of piston in a vessel of large cross-section is performed due to force, appearing during alteration of length of magnetostriction device, produced by change of magnetic field in the volume of aforementioned magnetostriction device, which is formed by a source of magnetic field. Piston movement values in vessels of larger and lesser diameters are reversely proportional to square value of relation of their diameters, which makes it possible to maintain continuous movement of piston in vessel of lesser diameter for significant distance with extremely high linear resolution, determined by elongation of magnetostriction device during changing of strength of magnetic field in its volume. By setting the acceleration speed for this field, absence of unevenness at the beginning of movement is provided for, and smoothness of movement of lesser piston along whole movement base.
