FIELD: medicine, traumatology, orthopedics.
SUBSTANCE: the suggested intramedullary element consists of a rod the ends of which are supplied with cross-sectional through openings for blocking needles. The rod is designed as a groove. Inputs into cross-sectional thorough openings for blocking needles have got coniform enlargements, moreover, the last two neighboring cross-sectional openings overlap each other. Method for applying an intramedullary element in case of osseous lengthening deals with introducing osseous fragments of intramedullary element into medullary canal, applying intersecting needles through distal and proximal ends of a bone to be fixed at the supports of perosseous apparatus followed by osteotomy and dosed distraction. For fulfillment of the above-mentioned method one should apply intramedullary element with through cross-sectional openings for blocking needles. On achieving planned lengthening it is necessary to dismantle the apparatus, block intramedullary element in the bone with blocking needles introduced through soft tissues into thorough cross-sectional openings of intramedullary element, curve free ends of needles up to the angle of 70-90° against longitudinal axis of the bone to be fixed upon a perforated plank.
EFFECT: higher efficiency.
