FIELD: rolled stock production, namely processes for producing hot rolled steel.
SUBSTANCE: method is realized on successively reducing thickness of rolled piece at cooling metal between stands with pauses for rolling in each stand. Values of total reduction degrees are set different depending upon kind of rolled steel and thickness of ready strips. After rolling predetermined number Q of strips of preset final thickness h, number (0.34 - 0.40)Q of strips with thickness H (more than h) are rolled for further rolling the same number Q of strips with thickness h. Relation of pause duration to operation time period k = τst/τop isequal to 0.12 - 0.20. Value k increases as strip thickness grows. Temperature of cooling water is set in range 31 - 33°C.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of wide strip hot rolling mill, improved quality of rolled strips due to lowered temperature stresses in roll barrels and less possibility of micro-cracking of strip surface.
