FIELD: measurement engineering.

SUBSTANCE: sample is subject to multiple probing followed by analog-to-digital conversion accompanied with storage of digital signals by means of summing their discrete readings from correspondence indexes. Then envelope is calculated and time interval between maximums of envelope is found, which maximums correspond to probing and shadow signals. Speed of propagation of ultrasound is calculated basing upon data from found time interval and from known length of sample.

EFFECT: improved precision of measurement.
