FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: a polarized light signal is passed via a magnetooptical sensing element in the form of unicellular optical fiber twisted in the direction of radiation propagation. The light signal that has passed via the sensing element is divided into two pairs of mutually orthogonal linearly polarized components differing from each other by angular orientation. The azimuth angle and the angle of ellipticity of the light signal polarization are determined at the output of the sensing element. Additionally determined is the double refraction in the output fixing coupler of the optical fiber, the state of polarization of the light signal at the end of the fiber before the output fixing coupler is found with its use. The measurement signal is formed with regard to the angle of orientation between the pairs and the double refraction in the determined according to it.
EFFECT: reduced distortion of the form of the measurement signal and enhanced stability of measurements under the action of temperature and vibrations.
