FIELD: agriculture, in particular, plant growing, may be used in elite potato seed growing at different stages of producing sanitated seeds by apical meristem method.

SUBSTANCE: method involves exposing potato planting material to optical radiation flow in red spectrum by means of coherent light at radiation intensity ratio of at least 5:1 within wavelength range of 550-680 nanometer and above 680 nanometer, respectively, at radiation dose of 100-200 J/m2. Test plants and potato seed tubers are used as planting material. When potato test plants are used as planting material, irradiation procedures are carried out repeatedly during vegetation phase at least three times, beginning from 5-7 days after procedure of propagation by cuttings, at one day interval. Potato seed tubers are treated 1-3 days before planting thereof. Method allows multiplication pattern of elite potato seeds to be reduced by 1 year.

EFFECT: increased coefficient of multiplication of planting material, increased potato tuber yield, increased efficiency, simplified method and reduced cost of effectuating said method.
