SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology, namely, to production of microtubers from potato plants propagated and cultivated in vitro. The invention constitutes a method for stimulating the formation of potato microtubers in vitro, characterised by the fact that microcuttings, after being planted on a nutrient medium, are held in the dark at +4…+5°C for 5 days for maximum synchronisation of mitotic divisions and then cultured for 10 days at +24…+25°C and exposed to artificial light with a spectral line intensity of 70 to 310 mW/m2 in the wavelength range of 640 to 670 nm at an illumination level of 2,400 to 2,600 lux, followed by repeating the cycle twice more.

EFFECT: method provides a possibility of accelerating the growth and development of potato microplants in vitro, increasing the total foliage area thereof, the amount of primary and secondary roots, and increasing the amount and mass of the resulting microtubers as a result.
