FIELD: medicine; medical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method involves applying local high frequency hyperthermia with current-conducting liquid at continuous temperature control in cervical canal just before intracavitary gamma-therapy session. Hyperthermia is given at 45°C and the current-conducting liquid has fluorouracyl at a dose of 1000 mg. Device has hollow cylinder, end piece having rounded edges and fitted on one cylinder end and unit for holding electrode and control units mounted on the other cylinder end with rubber washer. The cylinder is enclosed into a cuff manufactured from flexible material and tightly sealed on the ends by means of rubber rings. It has thickened wall on the holder side in which longitudinal openings are available communicating to the internal cylinder volume for placing electrodes and an opening communicating to the internal cylinder volume for placing electrodes and an opening communicating to the external cylinder surface to allow gas to be delivered to the space between the external cylinder surface and cuff. The holder has openings coaxial with cylinder openings.
EFFECT: enabled tumor cell kariokynetic cycle synchronization contributing to increased cell sensitivity to heating and irradiation; reduced radiation doses; controlled cell heating.
