FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method involves carrying out compression-distraction osteosynthesis for eliminating mandibular hypoplasia. Arthroplasty is carried out as follows. Horizontal osteotomy is done 0.1-1 cm below mandibular notch depending on branch length. Vertical osteotomy is done beginning from the notch center to horizontal osteotomy line. Internal or external 0.1-1 cm long mandibular coronoid process plate is removed. External cortical regenerate plate of the same shape is also removed along the anterior mandibular branch surface at its boundary with its posterior edge. The so produced autograft is placed into groove formed in the regenerate and fixed as overlay on the anterior branch surface. The compression-distraction apparatuses are withdrawn in one stage with arthroplasty operation.
EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness in adapting soft tissues to new mandible position.
