FIELD: mechanical engineering; piston internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: according to invention, fresh portion of oxidizer from plenum chamber is directed into intermediate reservoir isolated from engine cylinder and only after that oxidizer is delivered into engine combustion chamber at control of beginning, speed and mode of delivery of oxidizer. Thanks to it control of heat liberation intensity is provided and effective conversion of thermal energy into mechanical work. Possibility is provided for cooling or heating of oxidizer before delivery into combustion chamber. Intermediate reservoir is used in engine, and additional ports are made in cylinder housing which connect cylinder chamber with said reservoir by main lines with valves. Valve on main line delivering oxidizer from intermediate reservoir into combustion chamber is made adjusting, and intermediate reservoir is furnished with heat exchanger. To improve efficiency of operation of engine, intermediate reservoir can be connected for delivery of oxidizer in portions, and into combustion chamber of other cylinder.
EFFECT: improved efficiency of conversion of thermal energy into mechanical work.
