SUBSTANCE: it is necessary to measure patient's height (H), moreover, additionally, one should measure the height in patient's sitting position (HS), body weight (BW), breast circle (BC) and patient's age (A), moreover, one should measure the distance between incisors and zigzag line (Dz) and between incisors and hiatus narrowing (Dhn), then one should calculate the desired distance between incisors and hiatus narrowing (DDhn): DDhn=17.8+0.00161xHxHS+0.035xA-0.000186xBWxBC cm, and at taking into account the condition of Dz/Dhn>0.939 and Dhn/DDhn<1.125 it is possible to determine normal anatomical ratios of esophago-gastric transition, at Dz/Dhn<0.939 and Dhn/DDhn<1.125 - the presence of diaphragmatic hiatus esophageus hernia at esophageal shortening, at Dz/Dhn<0.939 and Dhn/DDhn>1.125 - the presence of diaphragmatic hiatus esophageus hernia without shortening.
