METHOD OF ELECTRIC ARC WELDING BY FIXED CONSUMABLE STRIP ELEFTRODE Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC B23K9/14 

FIELD: mechanical engineering; welding.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automatic arc welding of metal articles of considerable thickness using fixed consumable strip electrodes. Proposed method includes placing of consumable strip electrode between surfaces of two metal articles to be welded and insulated from the articles by means of dielectric coating, forming of electric circuit to pass welding current through electrode and article providing striking of electric arc between electrode and articles with subsequent forming of welded joint. Width of electrode is not less than thickness of articles to be welded. Welded joint is formed by reciprocating movement of electric arc over front of electrode melting, longitudinal displacement of molten bath cooling of molten metal. Electric arc is exposed to action of periodically changing alternating cross magnetic field directed square to surfaces of consumable strip electrode pointed to surfaces of metal articles to be welded. Field frequency corresponds to required frequency of reciprocating of electric arc over front of electrode melting. Action is provided by antiphase modulation at above-indicated frequency of current stated above which passes through each metal article. Modulation of electric current passing through each metal article is carried out according to rectangular law.

EFFECT: provision of high quality parameters of welded joints.
